Turning Complex Information Into Training People Understand

I have developed e-learning and digital training programs for major companies in the oil and gas industry, taking projects from the initial concept through to the completed learning experience.

Using Adobe Captivate and the Adobe creative suite, I have been involved in all facets of e-learning development—including instructional design, writing and organizing course content, photography, video production, narration, graphics, animation, interactive elements, knowledge checks and final course production.

My strength has always been taking complicated information and finding a clear, visual and engaging way to communicate it.

From Concept to Completed Course

Good e-learning isn't simply putting a PowerPoint presentation online. The challenge is deciding what people actually need to learn—and then developing a course that keeps their attention long enough for them to learn it.

My background in training development, photography, video production, editing, graphic design and communications allows me to develop the different components of a course rather than treating each one as a separate project.

That can include:

  • Instructional design and course structure
  • Adobe Captivate development
  • Technical and training content development
  • Video production and editing
  • Photography and custom graphics
  • Voice-over and audio production
  • Interactive learning activities
  • Quizzes and knowledge checks
  • Safety and procedural training
  • LMS-ready course development
  • Updating and modernizing existing training
  • AI-assisted training and content development

Experience in Oil & Gas Training

I have developed e-learning and training materials for organizations within Canada's oil and gas sector, where training needs to be more than attractive—it needs to be clear, accurate and practical.

Technical procedures, equipment, workplace practices and safety information can be difficult to communicate effectively. My approach has been to work with the people who understand the subject, identify what learners actually need to know, and then turn that information into a structured training experience.

Today's E-Learning Doesn't Have to Look Like Yesterday's

The tools have changed dramatically.

Along with traditional e-learning development, I now incorporate modern AI, video, image, voice and content-development tools where they genuinely improve the learning experience.

AI doesn't replace good instructional design. It gives an experienced developer a much larger toolbox.

For organizations with older training programs, that also creates an opportunity to update existing material without necessarily starting over from scratch.

Need Training Developed?

Whether you need a complete e-learning program, an existing course modernized, training videos produced, or simply someone who can take a pile of technical information and figure out what to do with it, I'd be happy to discuss the project.
